· The UGC office has moved. The UGC office has moved. New contact information is: P.O. Box 298; Lake City, Michigan 49651; (231) 839-3001.
· New UGC website! If you’re here, you’ve found the new UGC website. The old website reflected the name of UGC’s predecessor, APTC, and was confusing to a lot of breeders and new technicians who were not familiar with the old acronym, so the board of directors voted to change the website to a more meaningful address. The old site will still be active for a period of time to redirect visitors to the current UGC site.
· UGC welcomes a new lab. Beef Improvement Ontario (BIO) has recently met all of the requirements to become an accredited UGC lab. For more information on BIO, you can visit their website by clicking here.
· UGC welcomes a new board member. Dr. Matt Spangler from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln was recently appointed to the UGC board to replace the seat vacated by Dr. Lisa Kriese-Anderson. Matt is a native of Kansas who received his B.S. from Kansas State, M.S. from Iowa State, and most recently his PhD from the University of Georgia, all in animal science with an emphasis in animal breeding and genetics. Matt served as an instructor and the livestock judging coach at the University of Tennessee at Martin briefly before moving to Lincoln to become the Extension Beef Specialist in January 2008.
